New corporate sponsor

Lets give a HUGE CUBBIES COUNTIES THANK YOU to Q8Oils (www.q8oils.co.uk) for the shed load of oil and chain lube they have donated to the cause. Cubbie drinks quite a lot of oil (well, not so much drinks it as drops it...) and as we clock up the miles that chain lube will come in handy.

And thanks to everyone who has continued to push the odd pound or two into the fund - every now and again I check the Paypal pot and to my surprise, there is very often a few bob in there.

I know I said I would update the total but but but well no buts I shall do it in the morning. Cubbies honour.

So, Cubbie operates on the "constant loss" oiling principle? And I thought the British motorcycle industry had advanced past that stage by the time of Cubbies birth.
On a non-Cubbie related issue: I'm making vacation plans and I haven't been to Scotland in 15 years. What would be the ebst tim to be there? (Bike riding of course?)

Darrell...strange tho it may seem any time from late July on to about now nice. We can have stunning weather at the end of the summer, or on the other side of the coin, we can have snow....I hear its forecast for the hills this weekend! Depending which part of Scotland you're in, then in August you could do the S&T and the National and next year there will be a social event in the middle of those two. Generally, loads of other shows and get togethers throughout the summer - keep me posted on yer plans and if you're heading up this way, I can let you know whats on.

Cubbie probably runs that system cos its got a slightly earlier engine....tho maybe not that early lol

Hi Darrell,
We can get all four seasons on any day of the year, LOL. As long as you've got good waterproofs then you'll always enjoy the roads up here. April to September is usually the best bet, but I commutted 35 miles on my Cub this morning in brilliant sunshine - ye cannay beat it!!!

Hmmm...sounds like some good information. Right now I'm likely to be headed that way in the July-August timeframe. I'd love to bring my own bike, but the transport cost is horrendous.
Oh, right now it would be arriving in Glasgow, and from there just riding.

If you can get yourself into the area then chances are, I could find someone to lend you a bike if that would be any help? Course, you could have a wee shotty on Cubbie if you really wanted heheheheh

Darrell....
There are at least 2 classic bike rental companies in Scotland. Do a google search, I think one is a tour company as well and can do you an itinerary and route plan too boot.

As others have said bring waterproofs and winter gloves and you can't go far wrong.

Thanks for all the help folks. In the interest of full disclosure, I have to say that the last time I rode anything approaching a classic bike was my 1984 Sportster (it's now considered antique).
As for what I want to do when I'm there, basically I'm a tourist, looking for some nice rides.
So, I'm guessing by teh time this is read that the Haggis Run will be under way.
